Drain repairs, replacement & new installations

A drain that is cracked, displaced or collapsed needs an assessment of the defect and a suitable repair. Clean A Drain Ltd carries out drainage repairs, replacement, new installations and associated excavation and groundworks across the North East.

When clearance alone may not solve the problem

Repeated blockages in the same section, visible pipe defects or poor flow after clearance may indicate a damaged drainage run. These symptoms do not establish the cause by themselves: an investigation is needed before deciding on repair work.

A CCTV drainage survey can record the condition of accessible pipework. Tracing and mapping may help relate a defect to the wider network and identify the likely location for further investigation.

Drain installation work

Repair and installation work

Collapsed or damaged drains

We investigate the affected section and can quote for excavation, removal and replacement of defective pipework where this is the appropriate solution. High-pressure jetting can clear an obstruction but cannot restore a collapsed pipe.

Manholes, gullies and connections

Drainage works can include repairs or replacement of associated chambers and access points, with the scope agreed after the condition and site have been assessed.

New drainage installations

For a new drainage run or property project, we can discuss the proposed route, connection points and installation work. Provide the available design information and any approval requirements.

Excavation and groundworks

We undertake associated excavation and groundworks for drainage replacement or installation. Access, buried services, ground conditions and the agreed reinstatement affect the method and cost.

From investigation to an agreed scope

  • Tell us about the drainage problem or planned project and provide the postcode, reports and drawings you have.
  • We establish what investigation or site assessment is needed and discuss suitable options.
  • The quotation sets out the work proposed and the access, excavation and reinstatement included.
  • Any necessary design input, consents, inspections or work on a public network must be established before the relevant work proceeds.

Where the drainage is public or shared, responsibility needs checking first. Our drainage FAQs explain the general distinction between private drainage and Northumbrian Water’s network.

Repair quotations and practical limitations

Repair and installation prices depend on the defect, pipe route, depth, access, materials, excavation, buried services and surface reinstatement. A standard drain unblocking price does not cover structural repair work.

CCTV is an internal visual inspection. It cannot, by itself, determine every ground condition or establish the cause of building movement. We can explain the drainage findings and any further work needed without replacing advice from a structural engineer or designer.

Our existing City & Guilds drainage operations, CSCS and SWQR qualifications are listed in the About us section. We also support commercial and managed properties where repair planning needs to account for occupants and site operations.
